I hope that everyone is enjoying a wonderful summer. While we may still be facing challenges in our economic climate, the lighting and energy markets seem to be sustaining some strength.
One of NALMCO®’s initiatives is to increase awareness of our association in the energy market and truly become the voice of the lighting industry. NALMCO® members have a wonderful opportunity to positively impact energy consumption in U.S. facilities. For this reason, we are in the early stages of image branding and media campaigns. We contracted with Echo-Factory of Rancho Cucamonga, California, to consult with NALMCO® on matters of image and media. Some of the early outcomes are contained in this issue of LM&M including the a redesigned logo and tagline.
Some might ask, “What was wrong with the old NALMCO® logo?” Or, “Why do we need to hire an outside consultant to handle NALMCO® media campaigns?” The answer is that we need to elevate and maintain a stronger and more visible presence in today’s market. And, today’s market needs NALMCO®. Our members have answers to many questions like job creation, energy savings, sustainable design and best practices in maintaining the integrity of a lighting system. NALMCO® members are the “feet on the ground” in lighting. We see what customers want, need and buy. We know their buying habits and tendencies. We can affect change in the market by promoting smarter, more sustainable solutions. NALMCO®’s input is invaluable to government leaders as they consider changes in legislation, to manufacturers as they develop new products and marketing strategies and to consumers as they make informed decisions for themselves and for their companies.
For NALMCO® messages to have traction, we must become THE Association on Lighting Management. I am certain our members know this, but we need a much larger audience. As we assert NALMCO® into this position of expertise, it should provide many benefits for us as members.
NALMCO® affiliation is synonymous with quality, sustainable and efficient lighting management. For nearly 57 years, NALMCO® has gathered the best and the brightest in the lighting management world to collaborate on our industry. I invite you to join us, October 17 – 20, 2010, in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico for the 57th Annual NALMCO® Convention and Trade Show where we will continue this important tradition.
Sincerely,
Jim Frank, CLMC®
