Certification Programs

That’s why NALMCO was the first organization in the lighting industry to create nationally recognized professional lighting management certifications. The certifications identify you as a leader within the industry and prove to customers that you’re the most qualified to do the job.

NALMCO’s four certifications were written by the industry’s most knowledgeable lighting professionals. Each exam focuses on information and skills that are directly related to the work you perform every day.

Certification Renewals

All certification renewals begin on January 1 and end on December 31. The renewal cycle is January 1 of the year immediately following the completion of your certification. You will receive one hour of credit for the actual clock time. Partial hours qualify. Notification will be sent electronically and by mail when it’s time to certify.

CALT AND CSLT

Renewed every three years. Requires 9 hours CE.

CLMC

Renewed every three years. Requires 40 hours CE.

CLCP

Renewed every three years. Requires 24 hours CE.

Complete the Requirements

Once enrolled, you can view the Requirements for the certification. Select an available requirement for details on how to complete it. 

ALL CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRE A FEE. You must click the Certification Fee link under Requirements to pay for the certification. 

The CLCP and CLMC require completion of an Application.

After completing a requirement, some allow you to record your completion and provide details about when and how you completed it. If the requirement requires approval, it will appear as earned after it is approved and credit will be granted. Completion of some other requirements may require association staff to record the completion.  
 

STUDY MATERIALS AND EXAM INFORMATION

Once Candidates have enrolled in a program, paid the certification fee and completed an application (where applicable), Candidates will receive an email with links to online study materials and a secure URL to take their exam online. The email will include the required Username and Password needed to take the exam.
  • Candidates have 180 days from the date of enrollment to complete the CALT, CSLT or CLCP exam.
  • Candidates have 365 days from the date of enrollment to complete the CLMC exam.

Complete the program

For all exams, Candidates must score a 70% or higher. Upon passing the exam, a certification of completion and wallet card will be made available in your online profile; you may download and print these documents at any time.
